"Seeing the Body" is an experiential workshop in which we practice seeing our own and others' bodies from several perspectives:
the body as movement,
the body as vital energy,
the body as structure,
the body as personal history,
the body as flow of sensation.
I addition to recognizing our native ability to seek without reference to models, we take on the "eye" of several visionaries. As time permits, we view ourselves from the movement model of Milton Trager, the somatotyping model of Willliam Sheldon, the structural models of Rolf and Mezieres, and the developmental model of Wilhelm Reich - and apply each of these ways of "seeing" to our table work and movement.
The class is intended to enliven, expand, and soften the way we look at our own bodies and the bodies of the people we teach and touch.
It's open to current and former Trager practitioners and students. (Students and practitioners of other forms of bodywork may be admitted to the class based on an interview with the teacher.)
