Mentastics with Milton: The Joy of Becoming More Alive  

In this third event, we go directly back to the source and present several short clips taken from the videos of Milton Trager teaching back in the 1980’s. We will explore how these videos from 1980 and 1985 provide us wonderful insight into the freedom, sensuality, nakedness, risk-taking, vibrancy, playfulness, and spontaneity that was in his teaching at the time.

And how, over the next decades, due to cultural changes as well as a growing awareness of meeting a broader set of needs, the work took on more softness, safety, containment, and care-taking, and began to be more carefully scripted and attentive to boundaries.

Guiding us through all this will be our panel including Cindy Popp-Hager from the USA, Ann-Charlotte Fogel from Sweden, coordinated by Roger Tolle. They all studied directly with Milton, and continue to practice and teach the work as they learned it decades ago and as they have evolved it in their own style and emphasis since then.

This online event will be interactive: the panelists will introduce and comment on the video clips of Milton and invite you to explore the magic in the movement yourself. You will also have the chance to share your own experiences in longer break-out discussion groups.

In the weeks following the live Zoom event, the recording will be edited and subtitled in English. This recording will be posted to TI’s website for password viewing. For those who cannot attend the live event, the recording may be purchased later.
