ABOUT KATHRYN HANSMAN-SPICE
Kathryn Hansman-Spice, MS, LMT is an educator who brings to The TRAGER® Approach a depth of experience from the fields of early childhood, massage therapy, and mind-body medicine. An Instructor & Practitioner, she teaches and practices in Portland, Oregon. TRAGER has captured her heart because of its philosophy of deep respect, gentleness, and inquiry. She is fascinated with recent brain science which affirms the power of safety, engagement and enrichment to change our state of mind, and our brains! Kathryn’s web page: www.pausibility.com.
ABOUT THIS CLASS
Latest developments in brain science offer a new framework for understanding the and describing the transformative power and effectiveness of TRAGER work.
While the brain has the ability to change, we need to TURN ON Neuroplasticity, to get the brain’s attention and meaningfully engage the mind. How can we develop our own capacity to be facilitators of change?
We will explore 3 strategies to rewire the brain, applying principles of neuroscience and trauma work to deepen our Trager practices:
SAFETY
BODY-BASED EDUCATION
CULTIVATING POSITIVE NEUROPLASTICITY
Through Mentastics®, tablework, DVDs and discussion, we will explore the tools we have to build a safe container, to bring clients into their bodies, and to foster our own self development as well as our clients’.
We will bring alive Milton Trager’s wisdom, with new language rooted in neuroscience and Stephen Porges’ Polyvagal Theory. We will focus specifically on how we can frame and structure a collaborative educational process to engage the Practitioner’s and the client’s mind in a dynamic, creative learning process.
TRAGER LEVEL 5
A unique, neuromuscular approach to body and movement re-patterning.
This CE course also serves as a post-graduate requirement after Certification in the Trager® Approach. You’ll deepen your experience of both Table-work and Movement Mentastics through demonstrations and supervised practice. Trager® is a valuable approach for anyone who wants to elevate awareness in themselves and their clients.
WHY TRAGER LEVEL 5?
Consolidate your gains as a certified Practitioner.
Increase skills developed in certification process.
Deepen skills at communication, movement and muscle re-patterning.
Deepen your capacity to live in presence in work and in life.
TRAGER HAS BEEN EFFECTIVE WITH:
While the following beneficial effects have been reported, Trager is not a substitute for traditional medical care:
Improved balance and decreased spasticity
Dissolution of internalized effects of trauma in the body
Greater ease and joy of movement with decrease of pain
Deeper feelings of personal integration and peace and decreased anxiety
WHAT IS TRAGER
Trager® tablework consists of deep, fluid rocking movements (oscillations) of muscles and joints combined with compression and gentle traction. This feeds into the nervous system resulting in dramatic muscular relaxation, along with feelings of lightness, freedom, and flexibility. The client is also shown simple movements called Mentastics which helps integrate the profound changes in the body.
COURSE FEATURES
By the end of this workshop, you should be able to:
Increase application of Trager principles through technique and movement suggestions on additional areas of the body.
Demonstrate further development of mindful attention in Trager and other related modalities.
Effect deep relaxation and central nervous system regulation in the receiver.
